 Happy New Year to everyone. Thank you to everyone who continuously supports by any means. I took some time to reflect on the direction of the BBGL (Bboy Bgirl Lifestyle) movement. With that said the direction is to keep moving forward. In this post I am spotlighting Bgirl Baby Stepz aka Jackie from North Bergen, NJ . For about a year now I have been working with Baby Stepz on her quest to learn and understand what it is to break and obtain self knowledge thru the dance of breakin'. At first glance when you meet Stepz you would not know that she has knowledge of Hip Hop yet alone Breakin' . Why is that you may ask? Well Aside from being a bright, motivated, enthusiastic person, in her words " The world says I have cerebral palsy the classic version which is not the worst one". Cerebral palsy is an umbrella term that refers to a group of disorders affecting a person’s ability to move. It is due to damage to the developing brain - https://www.cerebralpalsy.org.au/what-is-cerebral-palsy/ To the world some may see her as having a disability. Never the less with this "ill" ability (special ability), she is "on it" when communicating her goals, passions, and understanding of Hip Hop. Regardless of her condition, Baby Stepz is as determined as any other person wanting to learn how to create such movements with their body. This spotlight is dedicated to her and all those people who strive for something and never give up. In our Bboy Bgirl community for those that choose this kind of life, the daily grind to survive is worth the struggle. Thank you Baby Stepz for sharing your time and continuously building. She never fails to suprise me with her strong character that she has. Im super happy to have met her and for being my good friend today. This is beautiful story as well as Jackie herself...she is beautiful on the inside and out. Keep moving to those beatz babystepz! <3
