With out the collaborative effort of you all none of this would exist. The result of the event speaks for it's self. Thank you to the venue for allowing us to host this event. Thank you to DJ Irs For providing his DJ EQUIPMENT MONTH IN AND MONTH OUT. Also for your support in the sound lounge and spinning for us. Thank you DJ Ruggz for producing the sounds you did for us during the sound lounge As well as providing a great choice of music for the battles and cypher time. Thank you to Both Dj's for taking the time out of their own personal lives to support an idea! Thank you to Cindy for holding down the door and water station and supporting! Thank you to our crew NBK for you constant support. Thank you to all the BBOY / BGIRL community members that were able to participate and even spread the word of the event. Congratulations to all the winners and participants of the actual competition. Congratulations to Prohpet from being at our first event and showing his determination in continuing to participate and get better as the months past only to prove the wild card spot he was given was earned . Being part of the final 2 to compete for the championship. Congratulations to Flonetik for taking the win. His hard work and consistency has shown his work ethic on the dance floor. Keep tearing it up! As mentioned before the actual winners of the events is everyone who participated because the actual battle is within yourself and conquering what you did not know you are capable of. This is for the betterment and improvement of skills of everyone that continues to pursue an idea within these elements of hip hop. A Special Thank you to everyone who contributed through our First portion of our GOFUNDME campaign. We were able to raise a total of $320.00 . This is a start to a mission we will complete.  Brooklyn, NY native, Irs was the offspring of a Guyanese, South Asian Indian, Native Colombian mother and a Native Colombian father. The youngest of three, he and his two brothers lived fatherless. In the early 90’s, he moved to New Jerusalem (NJ) , where he still resides. As a child, his family had introduced him to music, which allowed him to experience the art of many eras and styles. Music became his drug growing up. Slowly, his drug became a tool to voice himself and surrounding issues that concerned all. Developing this weapon, he learned about writing rhymes/poems, DJ’ing and producing. DJIRS produced for artists such as Silent Knight, Baron "RedClay", Adam “ShadoKat” Bowser, Sirah. M.Josephine, Neila, Big Mike (HBO Def Poet), Gemineye (HBO Def Poet), FlowMentalz (HBO Def Poet), Slate Stone, Protégé of Phenetiks and many others. DJ’ing on the open mic scene, he quickly became the house DJ for the popular showcases Hip Hop Meets Poetry, Cypha Saturdays, Culture Shock, as well as The New Jersey Youth S.L.A.M. Team, Slam Global Enterprises and many more. While becoming well known in the hip hop underground scene, he also became known as “The Poets DJ.” These opportunities developed a relationship with some of the most talked about indie artists. His debut album as a producer, "For Those Listening"is a blend of artistic worlds that have molded who he is today. In March, 2011, Irs released the album "Raw Talent", with HBO Def Poet Gemineye. This album was nominated The Best Spoken Word Album Of The Year for 2011 by The NPA (National Poetry Awards). Followed by another album , "Urbanites In Flights", with singer/song writer, Orikl As-Salaam. In 2013, DJIRS dropped the traditional "DJ" title and took on the title "Devi8tor" when joining Cloud9, the former DJ Of Wu-Tangs Clans Killarmy, in formulating Devi8tors. Aiming to keep art form of the true disc jockeys spirit within the hip hop culture relevant. Current projects with John Robinson aka Lil Sci of Scienz Of Life, Big Mike of HBO Def Poetry, Protégé of Phenetiks, and a follow up to For Those Listening. managing feelings in the brink of sudden moments, and experience. I was told that I show courage in being able to speak my truth about my experiences. And it's this same realization that many people have been killed, HURT, LEFT ALONE OR SOME NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCE HAS OCCURRED TO. My response IS if IT were TO OR DOES happen be it purposely, unintentionally, accidentally to someone close to me OR EVEN FAR FROM ME (MEANING ANY TYPE OF FAMILY OR FRIEND OR UNKNOWN ), EITHER WAY IT'S A BLESSING AND A VERY POSITIVE THING! CALL ME WHAT YOU WANT BUT THAT IS ME. THRU MY LIFE EXPERIENCES I HAVE COME TO REALIZE THAT EVERY POSITIVE INTERACTION I HAVE OR HAD IT HAS CREATED A POSITIVE VIBE GREATER THEN ANY NEGATIVE CAN . WHY BECAUSE I KNOW IT AND BELIEVE IT. ANY ONE WHO MAY KNOW ME OR MAY NOT, EVEN IF FAMILY MEMBERS EMBRACEs THE MESSAGE, FEELs SADDENED , ANGERED, and OR HAVE MIXED FEELINGS TO THIS. THE IDEA THAT EACH MOMENT'S POSITIVE SEED PLANTED WILL WIN THEREFORE WE ALREADY WON. NO ITS NOT TO SAY I HAVE NO FLAWS OR HAVE NOT DONE THINGS THAT ARE OR CONSIDERED WRONG, ITS SAYING I HAVE FLAWS AND I HAVE DONE WRONG AND CONSCIOUSLY & UNCONSCIOUSLY MAY CONTINUE TO IN A NORMAL HUMAN WAY. BUT TO KNOW THAT THE MOMENT I DECIDE TO KNOW A DIFFERENCE AND APPLY A CONTINUED POSITIVE SEED IN MY OWN BRAIN THAT IS EVERLASTING. This SPREADS LIKE WILD FIRE TO OTHERS WHO CHOSE TO ACCEPT IT. EVEN AS I WRITE THIS NOW IF ITS PUBLISHED, OR NOT, ERASED, SHOWN TO OTHER PEOPLE THAT POWER OF THIS THOUGHT IS GREATER THAN ANY TECHNOLOGY ,THEORY & WAY OF LIFE . GREAT ENOUGH TO REACH THE UNBORN, NEWBORN, CURRENTLY LIVING & THE NO LONGER EXISTING. I CHOOSE TO SAY I AM A FREE RADICAL IN EVERY SENSE CHOOSING TO DO WHATS RIGHT ACCEPTING THE CONSEQUENCE OF THAT RIGHT. HOW DOES THIS ALL TIE IN WITH COMMUNICATION? This is my form of effective honest communication. Lack of effective communication can lead to many different issues. These issues may be avoided if we all knew how to effectively communicate our thoughts and feelings, in order to preserve us all, not speaking solely for myself, but all of us. Yes this may be hard to believe nor am I thinking this is a perfect world where things do not just happen either good or bad. Especially if you realize that these issues come right back home to your/our family and friends. When you notice that even your children are effected and feel unhappy and don't know how to communicate because of many different thoughts that may arise a different approach to communication should be sought. This a way I think we can start listening and help each other. Because even the most negative does not enjoy the feeling when they lay their head to rest. I am not perfect nor am I claiming that certain things don't have consequences. I am human like you all, and fully capable TO ALSO BE INCAPABLE We are the ones that cause the destruction of ourselves. We are also the ones to up bring our positive results. Introducing sins shadowed by virtues & vice Versa. Lack of effective communication leading to domestic violence and other many tragic experiences. Sometimes this is not the case and it all starts with an image idea or a search for belonging, attachment, love. In which can turn around at the blink of a moment. We don't ask for things to happen to us but then want to figure it out and or create a better situation with lingering thoughts kept in the background. In communication with someone , I was told " You will never get a straight answer from me" as I mentioned , "if that was repeated to YOU what would you think ? " RESPONSE : "they would personally not care !" In reply before deciding to type this up, I said THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMUNICATION BECAUSE THAT MEANS SO MUCH MORE! .....
